Presidential Search Process

Per Regents Policy 7101, Policy of Appointment of the President of the University, the Chair of the Board of Regents will appoint a Special Committee to consider candidates and to recommend to the Board the appointment of a President of the University.

In accordance with Regents Policy 7101, the Special Committee consulted with advisory committees regarding the criteria for the selection of the President of the University of California. These groups provided feedback on the criteria that had been used in the search for a new President. The Special Committee considered this feedback and other written comments that were received to draft new criteria. On November 14, 2024, the Board of Regents approved the criteria for the selection of the President of the University of California.
